Coversourcing: Jeff’s book is coming!
Published by Carl Lens December 15th, 2007 in The how and what of CrowdSourcing, CrowdSourcing Initiative
The last couple of months we have seen the introduction of quite some books and blogs related to crowdsourcing (even crowdsourced books about crowdsourcing) but the man who came up with the word has been awkwardly silent on his blog. Readers of his blog were already aware of the reason: Jeff Howe is writing a book on Crowdsourcing.
The book that will be published ‘next summer’ needs a cover design, and who else than ‘the crowds’ will be designing it?
Jeff and his publisher for the UK edition of his book have put up a website called “Coversourcing” on which they ask the crowds to create the cover design for the UK edition of Crowdsourcing. The winning design will be printed on the UK edition. I know that ‘wikinomics’ by tapscott &williams, and ‘the art of the start’ by Guy Kawasaki (look at all these covers) also have crowdsourced their cover designs. Let’s hope this design will be just as good!
PS: A nice-to-know fact about Jeff’s word: A few weeks before the article hit the newsstands, a Google search for the word ‘Crowdsourcing’ returned zero results. One month after the article appeared, the same search returned nearly 500,000 hits. Currently, the figure is over 3 million.

I love this cover, it reminds me of the beginning of Hannibal or Euston station at peak hour taken from a bird eyes view
